Diversity of projects

Within our Finance and Control department we have the Global Financial Shared Service Center. The primary aim of our Global Financial Shared Service Center (GFSSC) is to provide efficient and consistent centralized accounting and payroll services to projects, Business Units, and staff departments within Van Oord. The GFSSC comprises six sub-teams, with the majority focusing on accounting tasks. These sub-teams operate in both Rotterdam and Dubai.

The sub-teams are handling diverse financial accounting functions, such as:

Procure to Pay:

• Processing & paying supplier invoices;

Order to Cash:

• Processing intercompany invoices & Current account settlements;
• Bank & cash processing.

Record to Report:

• Month end & Quarterly reporting;
• Maintaining the General Ledger.

• Addressing non-standard or specialized financial tasks that require tailored solutions and personalized attention.

• Executing Global Payroll responsibilities for various Collective Agreements.

Throughout your internship, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with a specific team or rotate among the various teams, contributing to their objectives and processes, potentially offering fresh perspectives and supporting streamlined operations.

You will be working from our head office in Rotterdam with a view on the beautiful Maas. You can start or end your working day at our own gym in the office. Of course there is also a possibility to work from home, but we would like to see you at the office as much as possible!

The whole GFSSC team consist of 68 people and 13 different nationalities, divided over the sub-teams. You will get a buddy to help you making your way into the company. You can learn a lot from your colleagues, and we value an open learning environment. The Global Financial Shared Service Center is expanding at Van Oord, and you can contribute to this growth!

You will potentially work within various teams, requiring the ability to set priorities, plan, organise, and maintain a flexible work attitude. Moreover, you should possess:

• You are currently studying a Bachelor in Finance & Control, Business Economics, Business Administration, or a related field. Note that for Procure to Pay (PTP) roles, a relevant MBO study is also acceptable.
• You are an EU citizen, or you have a Dutch 'study' residence permit;
• You are available as of September 2024;
• Proficiency in both verbal and written English;
• Residency in the Netherlands;
• Strong communication and social skills.
