Service Engineer Electrical & Automation Marine Power Team - Central Europe

For our Region Central Europe, we are looking for a Service Engineer to join our team. In this position you will be performing optimal service by carrying out maintenance and repair work at all kinds of equipment at the vessels of our marine customers or power-plants. As a Hands On technical driven team-player, you will be challenged with commissioning projects as well as trouble shooting problems on board of our client's vessels. Basic knowledge of Electronics, Mechatronics, you know the inside out of engines and a mixture of oil and blood is running thru your veins. For this position you must be willing to travel extensively (worldwide) and stay abroad. The preferred location for this position is Schiedam, the Netherlands. But your office location will be your own desk at home with a visit to the headquarters every now and then.

After internal education, you will start with the following tasks and responsibilities;

• Independently or together with colleagues you perform commissioning's, service activities, complex repairs for 4-stroke engines aboard vessels or land-based power plants.
• Execution of the above in line with organization processes and practice to achieve the desired time, cost, and quality outcomes.
• You know how to represent Wartsila towards our customers and the marine industry to achieve the highest customer satisfaction.
• You provide feedback to earlier project execution phases - sales, design, engineering, purchasing and installation when needed.
• Increasing spare part sales through customer interaction and accurate record keeping in the field
• Maintain and promote Wärtsilä's high safety standards.
  

What do we expect from you?

• You hold a degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics or similar in the technical maritime sector.
• Willing to gain experience, travel the world and contribute a positive mindset within our team.
• Ability to understand, use and correct electrical and automation schematics and drawings.
• Preferably you have experience or knowledge of control system specification and design, PLC programming and diagnostics, marine power distribution, motor control, process sensors and instrumentation, valves, pumps, fans and/or other process system componentry.
• Fluent in written and spoken English, Dutch is an advantage.
• Service and team minded, structured, good attention to detail and self-motivating.
• Resident in the Netherlands and in possession of a driver's license.
